Jab We Met
After being challenged by ‘Om Shanti Om’ in last few weeks, ‘Jab We Met’ sneaks it’s way back into the top of the charts. With awards season round the corner, it would be an exciting battle to witness for the coveted award!

Welcome
Even as Pritam and Vishal-Shekhar have been locked in a friendly battle for the much in demand #1 position at the top, Firoz Nadiadwala’s team of Sajid-Wajid, Himesh Reshammiya and Anand Raaj Anand have brought along a surprise success of late 2007! Their ‘Welcome’ is selling like hot cakes while the film’s blockbuster success has only extended it’s fortune. Mallika Sherawat’s twin romance with Anil and Nana in ‘Kiya Kiya’ remains to be the hot favorite though!
Top star cast and eye candy picturisation have saved some of the most ordinary tunes heard in recent times from disappearing in oblivion

Taare Zameen Par
Rightly making an entry into Top-3 of the charts, ‘Taare Zameen Par’ has slowly but steadily found it’s due. Even though there weren’t many takers when it was released, the album is now much in demand with moist eyes welcoming most of the tracks in the film. Today, this Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy soundtrack is finding a worthy nomination in almost all award functions.

Om Shanti Om
‘Jab We Met’ was always a close threat to ‘Om Shanti Om’ while ‘Welcome’ and ‘Taare Zameen Par’ had started reaching out within breathing distance of this Vishal-Shekhar score. Result is that ‘Om Shanti Om’ has seen the heaviest ever fall (3 spots) this week ever since it’s arrival on the stands. T-Series continues to promote the album quite heavily though and there would be a continuous battle for supremacy at the top. As the famous dialogue in the film goes - ‘Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost’!

Sunday
Within a fortnight of it’s release, ‘Sunday’ has made a splash and is now challenging the big daddies in the charts who have been around for weeks. In Top-5, the music continues to find wide range of audience with a ‘tapori’ ‘Loot Liya’ followed by a classy ‘Kashmakash’ that sees Esha Deol making her debut as an item girl!
None. The album has something for everyone and impresses class as well as mass audience.

Dus Kahaniyaan
Hovering in the middle of the charts, ‘Dus Kahaniyaan’ continues to impress after a brief period a few weeks back when it seemed that the album was on it’s way down. This was one album that could have warranted a music video for each of the ten songs. One wishes Sanjay Gupta reuses at least some of these songs for his subsequent projects.
Gulzar saab’s poetry for each of the stories in the film didn’t get much mileage and was hardly promoted

Aaja Nachle
Isn’t it ironic that a soundtrack which was panned by almost every critic who saw the film is still in the charts and registering good sales? This demonstrates once again that it’s a herd mentality that comes into picture when it comes to reviews by most of the critics. Every reviewer may have decided to follow another while downsizing the music when the fact remains that there were many other reasons other than this Salim-Sulaiman soundtrack that were responsible for film’s failure at the box office!
Music of ‘Aaja Nachle’ had a certain flavor which was unfortunately lost/ignored due to poor run of the film

Saawariya
Okay, so ‘yahan par bhi picture abhi baaki hai mere dost’! Music lovers are continuing to patronage this album even though the film has come and gone ages back. Even as the film’s DVD could well be round the corner, music of ‘Saawariya’ hasn’t lost the battle as yet! Sony isn’t letting go off the steam as well and are making sure that the promotion of the music of ‘Saawariya’ continues well into a season which sees numerous award functions round the corner.
Wish there were more of the title song, ‘Masha-Allah’ and ‘Jab Se Tere Naina’

Goal
Promotion of ‘Goal’ may have been over and done with but such has been the good luck of Pritam in the year gone by that there has been hardly an album by him which hasn’t succeeded at the stands. The picture repeats itself this week too as ‘Goal’ refuses to buzz from the Top-10 of the charts!
Daler’s ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal’ could have been Sukhwinder’s ‘Chak De India’. Alas, that never happened!

Khoya Khoya Chand
Within a fortnight, ‘Khoya Khoya Chand’ has been forced to move out of Top-5 and stare at the bottom of the barrel. The movie may have been dismal at the box office but one hopes that ‘Khoya Khoya Chand’ manages to bounce back.
Music of ‘Race’, ‘Superstar’ and ‘Jodha Akbar’ would be out this month. That may result in the exit of ‘Khoya Khoya Chand’ from the stands.
