Star One very well knows to keep their viewers entertained, and at the same time, provide the artists a fitting platform to showcase their talent.
On the 4th of January 2007, Mandira Bedi and Navjot Singh Sidhu’s Funjabbi Chak De, witnesses one such talent. Malay Sen, an aspiring musician from Kolkata makes his way into the lime light; being the first Indian to play music with utensils, and with a rare talent of playing the tabla beats with his cheeks, Malay surely seems to have God’s gift in music. The Telly Buzz team talks to the young musician about his experience on being in the show…“Funjabbi was the best experience of my life. This is the first time that I am aired on television, and so far it’s my biggest achievement as I got to perform in front of Mandira Bedi and Sidhuji, who I’ve grown up seeing on screens. I was overwhelmed when they applauded me for my performance…”, says Malay. On a similar note Malay adds, “Funjabbi and my show with Relaince BIG FM where I shared the stage with Voice Of India’s Ishmit and Mahendra Dhoni, are my fondest memories.”
Wonder what inspires the young Malay? “Music has been the biggest inspiration for me from a very early age of 5. I began learning tabla then, and hence began my journey with various Gurus of the musical world. I aim to touch the highest peak as far as musical notes are concerned”. When asked whether he idolizes anyone from Bollywood, the man quickly replied, “A.R. Rehman inspires me the most. I just hope I get to work with him some day…”
